Annually, the KAI brings two theatre productions to Kaneland.
Past summer shows were Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Cinderella, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Once Upon a Mattress, and big the Musical. With each year, the program has continued to grow and has become wildly popular among in the Tri-Cities and throughout Kaneland. KAI is thrilled to produce Mary Poppins in July 2016.
After four successful summer theatre productions, the Kaneland Arts Initiative was pleased to introduce a winter theatre production held in January of 2014 in the Black Box Theatre. The inaugural winter theatre performance was the gripping and moving Laramie Project directed by KAI artistic director, Diane McFarlin. Read the Kane County Chronicle’s coverage of this performance. In 2015, KAI was proud to present a staged reading of The Diary of Anne of Anne Frank, directed by Diane McFarlin. This KAI will be presenting the World Premiere performances of a play written by Nic Wehrwein, a 2002 Kaneland High School Alumni. Memorial Park will be performed in the Kaneland High School Black Box Theatre.
